"Where there is love there is a song , to help when things go wrong."

In 1948, Diane (Parker) enrolled in the Music Diploma Course at Dalhousie University and Halifax Conservatory. She became a principal soloist with the newly formed Nova Scotia Opera Association; a regular recitalist on CBC Radio Halifax; a church soloist and a winner of the Nova Scotia Talent Trust and Halifax Music Festival "Star of the Festival" Awards.

In 1952, she enrolled in the Artist Diploma Course at the Royal Conservatory of Music, again a scholarship recipient. During this time she was a church soloist and appeared in concert at Hart House and The Conservatory.

The following 30 years Diane Alcorn continued to sing for CBC Radio, concertize, teach and study while marrying and helping to raise six children. During this time she was constantly encouraged to sing by her husband Russell.

Diane Alcorn has taken advantage of opportunities to study and coach with world class people privately and in master classes: Mariss Vetra (former head of Latvian State Opera) in Halifax; Madame Emmy Heim, Leslie Holmes, George Lambert, Maureen Forrester, Bernard Diamant in Toronto; Madame Iride Pilla in Boston and presently is coached by Mark Eisenman in Toronto.

Always ready for a challenge and gifted with an innate musicality and remarkable voice, Diane wishes to continue singing, sharing with people her great love of music and life.
